Newborn Session Tips ·
My goal for lifestyle newborn sessions is candid-style photographs to truly capture your life in this new stage with your newest addition! The goal is a stress-free, comfortable session! Here are some tips to help ensure a great experience and beautiful photos!
- I typically take photos in the nursery, living room, and then sometimes parents' room on the bed. These rooms typically offer the best natural light and are of course where baby spends most of their first few days. In order to ensure the best photographs, I ask that these rooms are free of clutter. Please do not stress about this, it’s just a simple way to enhance the beauty of your images. There are many times where clients simply just put "extra" things (such as boxes of diapers, bouncers, etc.) in random closets or in rooms we will not be using for pictures.
- I do one basket pose with babe so I will be bringing a basket and swaddle set up to the session. Is there a certain color you would like me to incorporate at all? Also, If there are any special items to you or baby, please feel free to bring those out as well!
- As far as outfits go for everyone, the best colors to choose from are “earth tones”. This includes creams (not whites), any shade of tan/brown, dark oranges, sage or olive greens, and dusty rose colors. It is also best to avoid prints. However, if you do choose a printed outfit for someone, I advise only one person has prints on so that the photos don't appear too "busy". You can most certainly wear whatever colors you choose, I have just noticed that these colors/styles bring out the best skin tones and make for dreamy photographs!
- RELAX! I truly aim for a relaxing, calm experience. Lifestyle images allow the baby to be comfortable, as well as you! Enjoy this experience :)
